The Great Egret is the first "rare" bird that I spent time tracking down. They are rare to King County. I signed up to receive "rare bird alerts" for my area. This bird has been residing near the University of Washington for about a month. It was my first "taste" of Rare Bird Fever. I spent 4 days looking for the bird (that's the thing about birds, they move around) since the location posted was vague (that's the thing about borders, they are competitive). As you can see, eventually I found it, perched on a houseboat roof.
