Nature Journaling

My desk during the Wild Wonder Nature Journaling Conference

I started more concentrated nature journaling in 2023.  I have always loved illustrating my science research and lab journals, and have started adapting that experience to journaling specifically about my observations of nature and biology around me. You can find my posts about Nature Journaling by clicking here: Nature Journaling

In September 2023 I participated in the Wild Wonder Nature Journaling Conference, and it changed my perception of what is possible in a journal.  I highly recommend classes and workshops with John Muir Laws and the Wild Wonder Foundation.

Here are a couple of ways that I journal:

I just started keeping a weather phenolgy chart.  I am still playing with getting the balnce right between temperature hi & lo, sunrise & sunset, moon phase, and weather.  Since we travel a lot, I find it interesting to see how the amount of daylight and sunshine affects my mood.

I also illustrate obeservation thoughts I have about all things nature - mostly facts I learn about questions I have.

I am also playing around with microscopy and exploring the microscopic world in my own backyard.  I even learned how to find tardigrades in the lichen found in my backyard!
