Our last day birding was spent climbing a tower to a canopy observation deck that is 32m high! Believe it or not, it wasn’t that bad - the spiral steps were perfectly spaced and there was no opening in the center to look down. The only downside, other than the heat, was that it did sway at the top. Needless to say, I didn’t spend much time at the edge of the deck.
After some time at the canopy level, we hiked climbed down the tower and hiked along the trail, then headed over to the Rainforest Discovery Center hummingbird feeders which yielded an amazing number of small bird species.
