We found out this morning that both of our flights were cancelled, so Avi spent the morning trying to re-route us while I searched for one last bird - the Red-billed Pigeon. Usually it is only found on the Mexican side of the river, but there is a small flock living at a golf course north of Laredo. After a bit of searching, I heard the flock in a tree along the golf course which was not visible from the parking lot. Then, one pigeon flew to a branch right next to the parking lot. I snapped a quick photo and it rejoined the rest of the flock. ✔️ #122 species for this trip and #259 for the year!
As far as the flight home, we couldn't get out of Laredo today, so we quickly drove 195 miles to San Antonio to get on the next flight to Dallas where we were expecting a 5 hour layover. Two hours I to the layover we got a Tornado and golf-ball sized hail storm and our flight is currently delayed two more hours. Who knows when we will get home at this point... adventures in birding, am I right?
